Cold Weather Dancing is a song cycle, commissioned by and staged for Celtic Connections 2004. This multimedia performance, staged in The Arches, Glasgow, included two extraordinary vocalists, a nine piece live band and VJs projecting specially shot material that was mixed with the feeds from two live cameras operating on the stage.
'One of the most thrillingly cutting-edge performances Celtic Connections has ever seen. Comprising a suite of radiantly melodic, groove-driven songs, delivered by a Norwegian and a Swedish/Malawian vocalist, together with a nine-piece Scottish band, it took place behind a translucent gauze screen, which carried a live video mix of pre-recorded film footage. Awash with luscious vocal harmonies, and incorporating liberal elements of hip hop, R&B, funk and soul, it was both a visual and an aural feast.'
